ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Ashley Corbett-Smith is an Australian designer based in Sydney, renowned for his unique approach to industrial design that combines playfulness with functionality. He specializes in creating modern homewares and furniture using high-quality materials such as bronze, brass, walnut, onyx, and glass. With a background in fashion design and photography, Corbett-Smith studied industrial design at the University of Technology in Australia and TU Delft in the Netherlands, gaining valuable experience working with prominent designer Adam Goodrum.
Corbett-Smith's design philosophy centers on exploring the emotional connections people have with everyday objects. His work often draws inspiration from natural phenomena and scientific achievements, resulting in pieces that are both aesthetically pleasing and interactive. For example, his puddle umbrella stand evokes childhood memories by mimicking the appearance of pooling water, while the "Self Composed" mirror set allows users to choose between different reflections, emphasizing his focus on user experience.
