'MARALUNGA' SOFA BY VICO MAGISTRETTI
Designed by Vico Magistretti in 1973, the Maralunga sofa received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro award in 1979, recognizing its design excellence.
The tale is that Magistretti presented the original prototype to Cesare Cassina who promptly punched it, breaking the sofa and inspiring the form that the Maralunga now displays.
This particular two-seater example dates from the 1980s and has been professionally upholstered and refurbished by our specialist upholsterers. It presents in a beautiful commercial grade velvet from Wortley’s ‘Domo’ range in the ‘Peachy’ colourway. Whilst this piece now presents as new, the original plastic bases have been replaced with new abs plastic feet.
