MURANO GLASS VASE ATTB. TO AFRO CELOTTO, ITALY 1970s
A striking and highly decorative Murano glass vase attributed to Afro Celotto, Italy, dating from the late twentieth century. Executed in a dramatic combination of translucent ruby red and deep black glass, the piece is enlivened by free-flowing white applied trails that wrap organically around the body, lending a sense of movement and spontaneity to the composition.
The elegant tapered form rises to a softly undulating rim, while the bold contrast between the luminous red upper section and opaque black lower body creates exceptional depth and visual impact. Both sculptural and functional, the vase possesses a strong postmodern presence and reveals changing nuances of colour and reflection as light passes through the glass.
Attributed to Afro Celotto, this expressive work exemplifies the innovative use of colour and fluid decoration that characterised much of the finest Murano glass production of the period. Equally compelling as a standalone object or as a vessel for floral arrangements, it makes a striking addition to both contemporary and eclectic interiors.
Attributed to Afro Celotto, Murano, Italy, circa 1990s.
Dimensions: 350mm high
Presented in excellent vintage condition.
