'SANDWICH E DOPPIO' ARMCHAIR BY AMMANNATI AND VITELLI FOR BRUNATI ITALIA, 1970s
A sculptural, softly geometric armchair from Italian husband-wife duo Titina Ammannati and Giampiero Vitelli — part of their iconic Sandwich e Doppio series for Brunati.
This piece embodies their trademark approach: architectural volumes softened into inhabitable, comfortable shapes. Upholstered here in orange-tan leather, the armchair reads almost like a micro-landscape — low, grounded, and quietly luxurious.
A perfect example of their 1970s/1980s Italian domestic modernism — and increasingly collectible — Ammannati & Vitelli pieces balance minimal form with genuinely original design thinking.
This is a fantastic example of the Sandwich e Doppio armchair, featuring the attachable armrests with built in magazine pockets and in excellent vintage condition. The piece has a small cut in the leather on the seat which is concealed by the armrest and has been professionally repaired (as pictured).
