SECOND TEN XIII - JORDY HEWITT
Second Ten XIII by Jordy Hewitt
Oil, wax and oil stick on canvas, framed in white Tasmanian oak
155 × 125 cm
Part of the Rainbow Studios collection for Alpha Modern
Second Ten is Western Australian based painter Jordy Hewitt's first solo exhibition in Sydney. Since completing a Bachelor of Fine Art and Design in 2014, Hewitt has exhibited continuously both locally and nationally in solo and group exhibitions and prizes. In all her work, there’s a sense of exploration and investigation of the world around her and within, often examining the changes they contain. Hewitt's paintings are marked by her development of expressive colour fields through blending and layering with an energy that can feel vexed but also triumphant. Her process is intuitive, contemplative and punctuated with energetic gestures. The works attempt to delight but also delve deep into human experience and permit confrontation of its complexity.
Available to view at our Surry Hills store.
