'TIME LIFE LOBBY CHAIR' DESIGNED BY EAMES FOR HERMAN MILLER & SOLD BY FEATHERSTON
There are examples of the Time Life Lobby Chair, but none so special as this one. Originally designed in 1959 for the Time & Life Building in New York, the Eames Lobby Chair reinterprets the lightness of the Aluminium Group into a more substantial, executive form. Individually upholstered leather cushions are mounted to a polished die-cast aluminium frame, creating a structured yet inviting silhouette defined by clarity of line and proportion.
Produced by Herman Miller this particular example was sold by iconic Australian husband and wife duo Grant & Mary Featherston from their Melbourne store which operated from 1966 - 1976. It still retains the Featherston Interiors label and therefore offers a significant artifact of international design.
In excellent vintage condition, the leather presents well and is soft. The foam is supportive and the aluminium frame in excellent condition. This is a collectors piece and has been respected as such.
Available to view and appreciate at our Surry Hills store.

Vintage Condition Disclaimer
All vintage and second-hand items are sold as-is. Due to their age and prior use, these pieces may display signs of wear such as minor marks, patina, surface imperfections, or variations consistent with their history. These characteristics are considered part of the item’s authenticity and charm.
While we take care to accurately describe and photograph each piece, variations and imperfections should be expected. By purchasing a vintage item, the buyer acknowledges and accepts its pre-owned condition. All sales of vintage items are final.
