This particular example is the full three-seater, having now been freshly upholstered in the hard-wearing yet luxurious ‘Ecotone’ from Sustainable Living Fabrics in the ‘Pika’ colourway. This fabric is produced in Australia from 53% Australian Eco Wool and 47% Eco polyester and is rated Heavy Duty Commercial - an excellent choice for the family home.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Kho Liang Ie (1927-1975) was a prominent Indonesian-born Dutch interior and industrial designer, renowned for his transformative impact on modern design in the Netherlands. Born in Magelang, Indonesia, he moved to the Netherlands in 1949, initially studying medicine before shifting his focus to design at the Rietveld Academy.
In 1958, Kho became an aesthetic consultant and designer for Artifort, where he played a pivotal role in redefining the company's image and establishing it as a global leader in furniture design. His innovative designs, including the iconic "F564" lounge chair and the "C683" sofa, showcased his philosophy of purity, warmth, and freedom. He was instrumental in attracting international talent to Artifort, collaborating with renowned designers like Pierre Paulin and Geoffrey D. Harcourt.
Kho Liang Ie's work extended beyond furniture; he also designed interiors, notably for Schiphol Airport in the 1960s. He passed away in Amsterdam on January 1, 1975, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to influence contemporary design and maintain Artifort's esteemed reputation.
