1960s 'LINEAS ROTAS' TRAY BY ALDO LONDI FOR BITOSSI
Whilst the Bitossi ceramics have become highly collectible and worthy investments, there are none as rare and beautiful as the Lineas Rotas (Broken Lines) series designed by Aldo Londi and produced by Bitossi in Italy in the 1960s.
Unglazed stoneware ceramic surfaces are sparingly hand decorated with the Lineas Rotas design making them a more appealing and unique piece from the other Bitossi ranges of the period.
Impossibly rare and beautiful is the example we currently have available, a rectangular ashtray with a singular holder for a cigarette, cigarillo or cigar and finished in the green, blue and white pattern.
This piece would make a very special gift for those that appreciate some of the finest ceramics that Italy and the world has produced or a collector of Bitossi and Londi’s designs. There will likely never be another opportunity to secure such a unique piece.
In near immaculate condition with no visible chips or markings, the glaze is as vibrant as it was new and it presents the serial branding underside.
Dimensions: 143mm long x 65mm wide x 34mm high.
